ORDER FOR THE PUBLIC WORSHIP of  GOD

The Second Sunday in Lent                          March 17, 2019

Responsive Call to Worship    (Psalm 63:1-4)

O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you;

My flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.

So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary, beholding your power and glory.

Because your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you.

Together: So I will bless you as long as I live; in your name I will lift up my hands.

*Hymn #92                                                         “O How I Love Jesus

*Prayer of Adoration

*Profession of Faith                              (from the Children’s Catechism)

What is God? God is a Spirit and does not have a body like men.

Where is God? God is everywhere.

Can you see God? No. I cannot see God, but he always sees me. Does God know all things? Yes. Nothing can be hidden from God. Can God do all things? Yes. God can do all his holy will.

Children’s Message         (ages 3 and Up)

*Hymn #89                                                         “Jesus, the Very Thought of Thee

Corporate Prayer of Confession with Individual Prayers of Confession

Gracious Father, thank You for Your compassion for the lonely, oppressed, and harassed peoples of the world.

You sent Jesus to seek and to save the lost, but we confess we have not shared His compassion for the crowds.

You have called us to make disciples of all nations, but we confess our reluctance to personally engage that mission.

Forgive us for being more apathetic than active, callous than compassionate, and isolated than involved.

Have mercy upon us and fill us with all of your fullness that we may truly live as those blessed to be a blessing.

For we pray this in the exalted name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Unison Assurance of Divine Pardon  (Psalm 103:10-12)

He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities.

For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him;

All: As far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us.

Responding with Praise                     Gloria Patri

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning; is now and ever shall be. World without end, Amen! Amen!

Bringing God’s Tithes and Offerings

*Gratitude & Thanksgiving

Praise God from Whom all blessings flow, Praise Him, all creatures here below. Praise Him above, ye heavenly host. Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Amen.

Ingram Extra - Please join us immediately after service for some refreshment in the Fellowship Hall. This is an informal time to get to know each other better. During this short-time, we usually hear something practical from Pastor John and are able to share our prayer requests together.

The Lord’s Supper - We celebrate the Lords Supper each Sunday at Ingram. All who sincerely trust in Jesus Christ and Him alone, for the forgiveness of sin, are invited to partake. Our custom is to distribute the elements processing forward by rows. When everyone is served, the we will take the elements together. For children not yet taking communion, please bring them forward with you so Pastor John may pray for them. If you believe your child is ready to take Communion, please ask Pastor John about the process.
