Sharing Our Joys and Concerns

* Call to Worship      adapted from Psalm 47  (responsively)

Clap your hands, all peoples!

Shout to God with loud songs of joy!

For the Lord, the Most High, is to be feared,

He is a great king over all the earth.

He subdued peoples under us, and nations under our feet.

He chose our  heritage for us, the pride of Jacob whom he loves.

* Affirmation of Faith        The Apostle’s Creed”

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic* church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting.  AMEN.                                                 *universal

* Prayer of Invocation

* Hymn of Adoration           Come, Christians, Join to Sing       Red Book  # 225

Invitation to Confession

Admitting Our Sin to God

O God of the promise, the patriarchs, the prophets, the Apostles, You are Lord of the past, the present, and the future. We say that we know Who You are, but we do not live like it is true. We are willfully ignorant of Your word and Your ways; and we make ourselves strangers to Your comforting grace and energizing power. We confess our shortcomings, our inclination to sin, our lack of holiness, our narrowness of vision, our emptiness of expectation. Father, forgive us we pray. According to Your steadfast love, grant us power to improve our doing and a spirit to wait with anticipation and excitement for the promised return of our Saviour Jesus Christ; in Whose name we pray  (time of silent, personal confession)  AMEN

Assurance of Pardon

Our Father, Who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. Please sign the blue attendance pad and join us in the Fellowship Hall for coffee and light refreshments following the worship service.

BUILDING MAINTENANCE FUND – Since our building is no longer new, the Session has begun preparing for other expensive repairs or replacements that are needed, and has authorized the establishment of a building maintenance fund. For example, the riding mower needs an expensive repair, and the parking lot needs to be repaired/resurfaced. Cost for these two items will be $8,000.

FLOWERS – If you would like to sponsor flowers for the chancel in loving memory or honor of a loved one or in honor of a special occasion, there is a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board by the drinking fountain in the Narthex. Cost: $24/Sunday.
