Sharing Our Joys and Concerns

* Call to Worship      adapted from Psalm 118     (Read responsively)

Out of my distress I called on the Lord;

the Lord answered me and set me  free.

The Lord is on my side;  I will not fear.

What can man do to me?

The Lord is on my side as my helper;

I shall look in triumph on those who hate me.

It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man.

It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in princes.

* Affirmation of Faith        The Apostles Creed

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic* church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting.  AMEN.                                             *universal

* Prayer of Invocation

* Hymn of Adoration               Hosanna, Loud Hosanna              Red Book # 297

Invitation to Confession

Admitting Our Sin to God

God of all creation, we all like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way. We have followed the call of other shepherds. We have played the goat instead of living like sheep. We have grazed in the pastures of sin, injustice and greed. We are lost without our Shepherd. O, Thou Great Shepherd of the sheep, hear our confession and pleas for mercy. Come and find us, Your wandering sheep. Lead us back to Your true flock, and the safety of our appointed fold. We pray in the name of the Good Shepherd, Christ the Lord.    (time of silent, personal confession)  AMEN

Prayers of the People and the Lords Prayer

Our Father, Who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever.  AMEN.
