* Call to Worship       adapted from Psalm 130

* Affirmation of Faith        “The Apostle’s Creed”

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic* church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting.  AMEN.                                          *universal

* Prayer of Invocation

* Hymn of Adoration          “Sing Praise to God Who Reigns”         Red Book # 97

Invitation to Confession

Admitting Our Sin to God

God of the universe, You created us to live before You in a relationship of obedience, faith, and love. We confess that we have sinned because we have not obeyed Your word, as we ought to obey. We have not trusted You as we ought to trust. We have not loved You or our neighbors as we ought to love. We know we cannot save ourselves from our sin or earn forgiveness, so we cry out to You. Hear our prayer, O God, forgive and restore to us the joy of Thy salvation, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.  (time of silent, personal confession)  AMEN

Assurance of Pardon

Our Father, Who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
