Sharing Our Joys and Concerns

* Call to Worship               adapted from Psalm 52   (responsively)

The righteous shall see the fate of the wicked and fear,

and shall laugh at them, saying,

"See the those who would not make God theirs refuge, but trusted in the abundance of their riches and sought refuge in their own destruction!"

But we are like green olive trees in the house of our God.

We trust in the steadfast love of God forever and ever.

We will thank You forever, because You have done it.

We will wait for Your name, for it is good, in the presence of the godly.

* Affirmation of Faith        The Apostles Creed

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic* church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting.  AMEN.                                           *universal

* Prayer of Invocation

* Hymn of Adoration                     O Worship the King               Red Book  # 104

Invitation to Confession

Admitting Our Sin to God

Heavenly Father, we acknowledge our sinful nature and admit that we have sinned in ways beyond our counting. We look at Your world as though it came to be through a happy accident and that it belongs to us. We look at human events and conclude that chaos reigns instead of You. Lord, what subtle blasphemies we entertain! Because things do not go our way we assume that You neither know nor care. How self-absorbed we are! We recognize our own inability and decide You are equally powerless. How faithless we are! Lord, forgive our narrow vision, faulty under-standing, and our lack of good works. Help us to see once again, Who You are, what You have done, and how You work through Your people and in Your world. Forgive us, our Father, then grant that we might think, speak, and act accordingly through Jesus the Christ, our Redeemer, in Whose name we pray.   (time of silent, personal confession)      AMEN

Prayers of the People and the Lords Prayer

Our Father, Who art in Heaven, Hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:  For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever.  AMEN.

Fellowship Hostess: Mun Sparks

WHETHER you’re investigating the Gospel (Good News) of Jesus Christ, looking for a church home, or have been with us for a long time – welcome! God is real, God is present, and we hope you sense and experience the grandeur of God today in this morning’s worship. Please sign the blue attendance pad and join us in the Fellowship Hall for coffee and light refreshments following the worship service.

FLOWERS – If you would like to sponsor flowers for the chancel in loving memory or honor of a loved one or in honor of a special occasion, there is a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board by the drinking fountain in the Narthex. Cost: $24/Sunday.

CARDS OF SYMPATHY and SUPPORT to be sent to the Dallas PD, Ingram PD, Kerrville PD, and Kerr County SD are on the desk in the narthex. If you would like to sign one as a show of support and solidarity with these police agencies, the Session has approved this as an official activity of FPC Ingram.

We must not make natural infirmity an excuse for sin, but we must fly to the cross and pray the Lord to crucify our tempers, and renew us in gentleness and meekness after His own image.
